Half Pay sick leave – phased return query
ETB: LWETB
EE: 2005386
Ticket: 93616
Employee had been on half pay sick leave initially until 28th of Feb and this was applied to EE pay.
After this the ETB got notification that the EE was going to working coming back on a phased return from the 24th of Feb. The ETB incorrectly ended the allowance on the 14th of Feb on 04th March.
EE is in 1/7th pay group, will be coming back on a phased return of working 3 days out of 7 and being on half pay sick leave for the 4 days.
They had also made contract amendments taking the EE of FTE of one in error.
First thing the ETB had to do was put the end date of 23rd Feb in the allowance, not the 14th of Feb. Allowance pays up to and included the date and phased return was starting on 24th.
The needed to put employee back on FTE of 1 and full salary so that correct pension contributions are taken.
The needed to work out the percentage of the time the EE will be on half pay sick for, in this instance 3 out of 7 days is 43% and this means the EE will be on half pay sick leave for 57% of the week. Half of 57% is 28% which is what they need to work out for the allowance as we don’t have this covered in the phased return tab on the reckoner.
So the ETB needed to work out 28% of the salary for the 24th – 28th of February and enter that figure in the half pay sick ded allowance.
The employee is continuing this phased return until April but received a 1% pay increase from 1st March they entered in a separate allowance working out 28% of the increased pay.
The system should refund the EE for the 5 days where the EE had half pay deduction taken off them now that they entered the correct details.
