Teaching Council – process.

Please see reply from Gill regarding Teaching Council issue experienced by Donegal ETB: Query: 75980

We can confirm that the staff identified as missing from our TC notifications have been submitted to the Teaching Council this week.

Our current process for communicating with the Teaching Council of Ireland involves extracting, via a standalone report, all staff newly added to the database that have a teaching council number attached to their Core record.  We have requested that AG review the parameters of this report to confirm there is no fundamental reasons why these staff did not output originally.

It’s important to note that where  ETB’s retrospectively add teaching council details to an already set up record, our reports may not capture this.  To mitigate against this issue, it’s important that ETB’s only set staff up when they have all relevant details related to that appointment.  I’m not suggesting that this is the case for the staff in DETB who did not output on the reports, but simply identifying a potential gap in the reporting.

We are liaising with the TC to arrange a day 0 file extraction from our database so as to capture all persons with TC number assigned.

An employee who retrospectively has a TC number added to their Core record needs to be notified by the ETB to the TC directly.

A staff member who is required to have a TC registration shouldn’t be set up on pay until such a time as all pertinent documentation has been received.
